Perry Napoleonic British - A box of 40 Infantry
I have just finished painting the figures up today.
I very rarely paint Perry plastics these days, mostly because its difficult to get the pricing right.
Our normal price of £4.50 for a 28mm Infantry figure just doesn't work on plastics, it means a box of 40 runs out at £200, no one has ever been willing to pay that much no matter how good the paint job. So that leaves me reducing the price massively and having to get them all assembled, painted, based and varnished in very few hours if I am to make a little money from the commission. To do that I need to cut corners.

I gave myself 16 hours to get them assembled, painted and based, a tall order just about possible but I had to cut way back on shading and highlights, basing and some other fiddly bits.
Assembly and Priming took me about 4 hours, I usually apply two coats of primer but cut it down to one for these, thankfully the plastic took the primer without any problem.
The task of painting ran out ant about 12 hours in total, base coats put down of skin tome, black then red tunic and dark grey trousers. I went over both the tunic and trousers in a lighter shade of the respective colours.
Basing was the quickest part. I touched up areas that had mistakes on them and glued each figure to the plastic bases supplied by Perry with the figures. I painted PVA glue over each base and dipped them into Javis Green Flock and that was about that. Finally one coat of matt varnish, job done.
Not allowing for drying time, I spent a little over my allotted 16 hours, more like 18 or 19 hours, the figures are done though and ready to post out to the customer, and they don't look too bad for a 'quick paint job'.
If you would like some Perry Plastics painted, get in touch and we can see what we can do.
